BEK assists the composer Knut Vaage in the development of the opera “Khairos”. The opera is comissioned by The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and is planned to be premiered in 2012.

Trond Lossius, director of BEK, is one of two Norwegian delegates to the management committee of the European research project Sonic Interaction Design (SID). This is a four year project running from 2007 to 2011.

Jamoma is a platform for interactive art-based research and performance. It consists of several parallell development efforts.

Marìa Andueza Olmedo is writhing a PhD thesis about Sound Art called “Urban Site-Specific Sound Installations”. Thanks to a grant of the NILS mobility project for researchers and artists, she will move from Madrid to Bergen for 3 months, to continue her research at BEK and at the National Academy of the Arts.

Touring exhibition for children. BEK develops technical soltions for the touring exhibition for children,“Fiskeboller i Karri”, produced by Hanne Hilt.

BEK assists the composer Knut Vaage in the development of the opera “Veslefrikk”, commissioned by Den Nye Opera. Veslefrikk will be premiered in 2010, and will be broadcasted as a TV production to 39 countries.

BEK contributes to Signatur, a cultural educational program for the young, initiated by the Municipality of Bergen.

Moving Image – cultural celebration versus cultural assimilation

This is a one-year project between four media art organisations in the UK, Latvia, Bulgaria and Norway and facilitates the movement and exchange of artists and media art in four very different European countries. ‘At Home in Europe’ is about the production and distribution of artworks using digital media and promoting the co-operation and professional development between the partner organisations.

Piksel has been a yearly event since 2003, starting as a workshop for developers of open-source software, with a particular emphasis on software for real-time manipulation of video and sound. Gradually Piksel has grown into a hybrid festival and workshop, meandering the boarders between artistic and technical development.
