realiTV at the DESIGNMAI Festival

Berlin. Monday, 2 May, 2005.
For Immediate Release.

Invitation to the opening of realiTV in the DESIGNMAI "JUNG+DEUTSCH" exhibition.

realiTV deals with that most ubiquitous of high bandwidth information streams: Satellite TV. It is located at the intersection of two major ideas: On the one hand it exploits live TV--intended to be the final product--retrieving new raw material for a further creative, highly aesthetic (i.e. relevant!), breathtakingly fast, and subversive collage process. At the same time, however, it transgresses boundaries normally maintained in the artistic work. The machine unleashes a stream of images at such a rate and intensity that there is no time to reflect, no time for any kind of artistic comment or conduct. The machine short-circuits the world of commercial television, the subversive dance club, and avant-garde sonic art with all possible consequences.

realiTV is an installation by John Dekron, Peter Castine, and realities:united.
